Summary

Brian Selznick is a celebrated American iiiustrator and writer and was awarded the 2008 Caldecott Medal for U.S. picture book illustration for his first long work, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, adapted into Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning Hugo. Brian Selznick is also the author and illustrator of Wonderstruck and The Marvels. Brian Selznick’s books appear in over 35 languages. Today, his recent projects inciude illustrating the new editions of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the U.S. publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. He now divides his time between Brooklyn, New York and San Diego, California.



Early Years

He was born 1966 and raised in New Jersey. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and worked at Eeyore's Books for Children in Manhattan, New York City for three years, painting the window displays for holidays and book events. He has also worked as a bookseller, a puppeteer, and a screenwriter.
